Combination Free Classifieds and E-Selling Site Blends Two Worlds

TheExclaim.com was born out of a discontent with the two main names in member-to-member marketplaces. It aims to be a haven for those seeking an alternative place to advertise and sell.

July 20, 2010 - PRLog -- TheExclaim.com was born out of a discontent with the top names in online selling: eBay and Craigslist. With the former, the repellent comes in the form of fees (insertion fees even when your items don't sell, and when they do sell, tack on final value and PayPal or other payment service fees); and contributing to frustration with the latter are rampant spamming, the prevalence of would-be buyers not showing up after arranging meeting times, and the very poor quality of item photos due to being shrunk to fit strict size limits.

Evading each of those issues, The Exclaim:
1.) is free of fees, except when opting to upgrade a listing, such as to make it featured.
2.) keeps e-mail addresses private by handling all correspondence between members through an internal messaging system. So those spammers pretending to be interested in your items just to get your email address when you reply would not be able to run that scheme on The Exclaim. And anyone sending blatant spam who was reported would just get banned from the site.
3.) has a feedback system, like that of eBay's but feedback can be left for anyone who contacts you, not just those you sell to and buy from. This is sure to deter the majority of those discourteous no-shows.
4.) allows photos to be as large as 1500 pixels wide by 1500 pixels high, and doesn't drastically compress them.

Open only to residents of the United States and its territories (an IP address check on the registration page prevents foreign sign-ups), The Exclaim combines local and national (online) selling. In any of the Items for Sale categories, just select your preferred shipping and payment acceptance services to sell your item nationally, or select none to sell locally only. In categories falling under Jobs, Housing, Community, or Coupons & Deals, there's a checkbox you can tick to list your ad nationwide.

Among the site's other features are the option to display your eBay feedback (verified by having you post a code in your eBay profile), an "accept offers" (aka "or best offer") option when posting items for sale, a radius search in lieu of the Craigslist style of separating by city, the ability to re-list expired ads, and the ability to mark items as sold or bought.

Debuting just last month, The Exclaim has already yielded a few sales for early members, attributable in large part to its association with Google Product Search and TheFind.com: items posted to The Exclaim that offer shipping are also submitted to these popular shopping portals.
