Kids are Free at Sacramento's Banana Festival

July 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Kids all over Sacramento will be going bananas in a whole new way. In the dense jungle of activities at Sacramento’s first Banana Festival, kids will have a blast in fun and exciting ways. Who knows? The parents may start going bananas too!

Sacramento’s first Banana Festival is opening its gates free to kids 11 years and younger August 13th-15th. A large youth area named “The Banana Jungle” will be home to a wide variety of games, crafts, food and activities kids will enjoy. Discover face painting, bounce houses, and a jellybean mural to music, storytellers, the Gunther’s Ice Cream Banana Split Contest and so much more.

In addition to the Banana Split Contest, local Sacramento youth will stun and awe the audience during Friday night’s Youth Talent Show. This year’s line-up includes some amazing dance routines, talented vocalists and stunning poets.

Saturday and Sunday will host the Banana Festival Pageant. Newborns to 17 year olds will exhibit their inner beauty and fun-loving banana pride as they compete to win their age group’s crown and the title of Miss or Mr Banana.

The Banana Jungle, as well as the rest of the Banana Festival will focus on health, community and culture. Tips and tricks for health eating and activities will be found around every corner and the Youth Art Exhibit will showcase the talented young minds and hearts of Sacramento.

The entire festival is alcohol free and geared towards families and family fun. Your toes will be tapping and your hands will be clapping to the music, dancing and performing artists, poets, and much more on the festival’s two stages.


The Banana Festival is a fund raising event by the local non-profit National Academic Youth Corps and the Sojourner Truth Multicultural Art Museum, with the mission to provide an opportunity for the community to come together and experience the many cultures represented in the Sacramento region a positive and fun environment.
