Stapleton History Comes Alive

Local authors share photographs of Stapleton’s dynamic past

July 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Stapleton history began in 1832 when William J. Staples and Monthorne Tompkins purchased a large parcel of land to establish their real estate venture. Many New Yorkers were attracted by this desirable new community and quickly it became a popular destination and residence.

In a new book by Arcadia Publishing, local authors and preservationists James Ferreri and David Goldfarb have collaborated to provide a pictorial overview of Stapleton’s beginnings.

Highlights of Stapleton:
•Features never before seen vintage photographs from both public and private collections
•Depicts the importance of beer brewing in Stapleton and how it impacted the town’s development
•Showcases the many Victorian homes and buildings that still stand today
•Includes snapshots of the Staten Island “Stapletons” football team founded in 1915
