By: Amy Hulth IFP/Chicago's 2010 Independent Film Gala will recognize Tribeca Enterprises as the 2010 Honoree for their many ventures supporting and promoting independent film, independent filmmakers and the independent film community. Most recently, Tribeca has continued to extend their reach bringing their support to Chicago. After founding the Tribeca Film Festival in 2001 following the attacks on the World Trade Center, Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff established Tribeca Enterprises - a diversified multi-platform media company with a mission to provide artists with unique platforms to expand the audience for their works and to broaden the access point for consumers to experience independent film and media. Tribeca's extensive network now includes the Tribeca Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival International, Tribeca Film, TribecaFilm.com, Doha Tribeca Film Festival, Tribeca Cinemas and the recently announced strategic partnership with Flashpoint Academy forming the new Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy in Chicago. The 2010 Independent Film Gala will be held on September 24th, 2010 at the newly renovated Excalibur. The evening will begin with a VIP reception at 6:00 p.m. (invite only) followed by regular admission beginning at 6:45 p.m. Attendees will be able to bid on exciting silent and live auction items including luxury shopping, unique art, an all-inclusive trip to New York City, a week in an amazing bed & breakfast in Wales and so much more. Tickets are also on sale for our exciting split-the-pot raffle at www.ifpchicago.org. 2010 Independent Film Gala sponsors include VitaminWater, Kodak, Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy, DePaul University School of Media and Interactive Media and our host venue for the evening, Excalibur. Excalibur is located in the heart of the River North neighborhood in a striking granite building, which is recognized as an architectural treasure and has been honored with designation as a historical landmark. Esteemed Host Committee members include Roger & Chaz Ebert, Beth Silverman, Michael A. Foster, Tom Fletcher, John Iltis and Tom Jikomes. Additional sponsors and Host Committee members for the 2010 Gala will be announced on the IFP/Chicago website at www.ifpchicago.org in the coming weeks. All proceeds will go toward sustaining and expanding IFP/Chicago's services and programs serving filmmakers and the filmmaking community throughout the Midwest, including a very successful mentorship program. For the past six years, the IFP/Chicago mentorship program has produced an entirely student-created film with underserved Chicago youth. IFP/Chicago's Mentorship films have won many awards, including the Student Award of Excellence for Technical Achievement from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences two years in a row -- an honor achieved by only one other school in history. All of the award-winning films can be view at www.ifpchicago.org. For more information becoming a sponsor, auction donor or joining the host committee contact Colleen O Neill, Gala Director, at coneill@ifp.org. About IFP/Chicago IFP/Chicago is committed to the idea that independent film is an important art form and a powerful voice in our society. IFP provides resources, information and avenues of communication for independent filmmakers, industry professionals and independent film enthusiasts in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. We encourage quality and diversity in independent production and assist filmmakers at all levels of experience in realizing their unique vision.
