July 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Anna Chapman and her fellow spies who were recently exchanged between the United States and Russia used it, but it is already available for everyone, and even for free: Encrypted email and messaging services.

Originally, encrypted messages were foremost used by military and secret service as well as foreign offices and diplomatic services. Obviously, confidential mails and messages demand utmost security whilst transmitted.

These days, encrypted and secure email services are available for everyone, and even for free. Obviously, arranging a casual meeting could still be arranged via Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo. However, if private and confidential messages – which should rather not be read or hacked by somebody else – are sent, then secure email services should be used.

In essence, a secure email service is based on a code which ensures that a message can only be read by the recipient and not any other third, unauthorized person. Ideally, the encryption covers the whole line directly from the senders to the recipient (and not only parts of it), and the service should be easy to use and be offered for free. – Many services do not meet these requirements, but only secure part of the transmission, are not easy to use, but require several codes to be exchanged, and are expensive.

One of the services which aims to meet all the ideal requirements is Opolis Secure Mail (http://www.opolis.eu): All messages and attached documents are sender-to-recipient encrypted and can therefore not be read by anyone else. Opolis emails are sent immediately, without delay. And, the sender can monitor and follow the entire path of a message and therefore sees immediately if and when the recipient has opened the mail and the attached document.

Opolis also includes other valuable features, such as:  The sender has always full authority over how the recipient can further process a message. Therefore, the sender decides whether the recipient may copy, print, respond to or forward a message or not. And, there is an attachment size limit of 125MB (way more than the usual 10-15MB with standard email) which should easily meet current demands.

Opolis is for free and merely requires that both, the sender and the recipient are Opolis users. The registration process takes approximately 5 minutes.
