Follow on Google News | DSS leading ICE 8 NG9-1-1 Recording and Logging Interoperability TestsSouthfield, MI – DSS Corporation (www.dispatchimprovement.com), having successfully completed NG9-1-1 interoperability testing with 17 other vendors at NENA’s ICE 2, is now preparing to test its Equature® NG9-1-1 recording solution in ICE 8
By: DSS Corporation ICE 8 Phases: • Phase 1 will test recording of NG9-1-1 communications via a conference bridge initiated by another vendor’s NG9-1-1 element, including CPE, Gateway, Routing Proxy, and Border Controller elements. • Phase 2 will test the NENA standard Event Logging capability. Each NG9-1-1 element must log events on the recorder, creating a complete record of the call and incident. • Phase 3 will test the NENA standard query, retrieval, and playback interfaces. • Phase 4 will test logging of additional Events created within a PSAP that are now being defined in the Standards Development groups, including emergency incident data. According to Smith, this first remote ICE event could be used as a pattern for future events, allowing tests to be conducted without participants having to travel to a test facility: “We always felt it would be possible to do these tests remotely. After all, NG9-1-1 is all about networking, so it shouldn’t matter where the elements are located.” Smith added that gathering in a single location does have the advantage of being able to network with other vendors, so he expects that those kinds of events will still be held. “I really like being face to face with so many other vendors, but being able to test remotely means that we can test more often, which allows us to move the ball forward more quickly. I’m really looking forward to testing our Equature® solution’s interfaces with all the other vendors”. So far, eight recording vendors have agreed to participate in the planning and testing, and Smith expects the majority of PSAP and Network equipment vendors will join, based on the interest expressed so far. Kevin Freckleton, DSS’s representative for NENA’s NG Partner Program, added this: “For NG9-1-1 to work at all, the interfaces between all the elements have to work, regardless of vendor. DSS is involved in both the development and testing of the standards, and we’re happy to contribute. We also think education is important – we’re doing two sessions at the NENA conference this year, as well as one at APCO, and we regularly do sessions at the state conferences.” Southfield, MI based DSS Corporation has been serving Public Safety for more than 20 years.
