Mark Powell launches ‘A Celebration of Style: Cool London Through the Photographe

On Thursday 17th June, Mark Powell celebrates the opening of his first shop in 20 years on London’s Marshall Street W1. Fashion meets art, with the night also celebrating the launch of a unique photographic exhibition: ‘A Celebration of Style: Cool London Through the Photographer's Lens’ curated by respected contempary Art Adviser; Sandra Higgins, which will run for one month in the gallery below the shop.

The newly formed salon gallery will feature work by notable and world renowned photographers that Powell has personally worked with over the past 25 years bringing these  photographers together as much as a tribute to their friendships with Powell as to illustrate the best in fashion, music, design and celebrities from the London scene starting at the 50’s right through to present day. Work will include: Barry Lategan’s iconic picture of Twiggy from 1966 – the picture which made her career, Derrick Santini’s shot of Lily Allen, Romano Cagnoni’s Mary Quant at work in her Chelsea Studio, John Stoddart’s Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Iain McKell’s portrait of Lily Cole, Bruce Fleming’s captivating image of Jimi Hendrix, Patrizio Di Renzo - Powell’s trusted fashion photographer and the late Dan Farson - Soho habitue. Each photographer will be exhibiting a chosen selection of their work for the show of which will be for sale on the night, with a proportion of all proceeds from the exhibition going to Powell’s charity of choice: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

The event is set to be a star studded affair with Powell’s industry friends, celebrities and art experts turning out in attendance.
