July 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Most recently seen on the Graham Norton Show singing a song about American actress Anna Paquin, South African acoustic comedy band The Brothers Streep provided entertainment on the FIFA stage between matches at the World Cup.

South African bands were invited to audition to play the FIFA stage through PANSA – Performing Arts Network of South Africa. The Brothers Streep were chosen to play 3 gigs, 2 of these were in Cape Town for the official FIFA fan fest and the third gig was played in Khayelitsha Community Centre, a FIFA public viewing area.

Volunteers Justin and Talbot have been working on Human Rights Projects in South Africa during the World Cup and had the opportunity to meet the band after they were introduced by a member of Projects Abroad staff. Emma Muller is our Social Media Manager for South Africa and is engaged to the bass player of the band.

Justin is working on research for overcrowding in prisons in South Africa and with people awaiting trials, he has also met with members of Parliament who sit on the committee of correctional services. Talbot has been working on the Bonnytoun project which works with former gang members, to help educate them about more productive activities including writing projects.
