Second Annual Wowathon Charity Event Scheduled For July 15, 2010
The WoWathon Charity Team looks repeat their success in collecting donations for the Child's Play Charity in their second annual WoWathon event. As last year, donations will never touch the team's hands and are sent directly to Child's Play's paypal.

The main WoWathon Team consists of 5 Southern Californian college students with several friends serving as relief for long or difficult shifts. During the marathon, the team will create new characters in the online role-playing game World of Warcraft and attempt to level them to the maximum level of 80.
Last year, the team along with the help of friends and roommates managed to raise $8,282.82 USD over the course of 11 days with approximately 200-300 viewers watching their stream during peak and late night shifts.
The charity to receive these donations, Child's Play, is run by popular webcomic creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. As stated on the charity's website, it is "a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in (their) network of over 70 hospitals worldwide."
Last year the team operated on a donation goal system; once a certain donation amount had been reached, the team would level their characters up to the next pre-determined milestone. This year the marathon works as follows:
Two characters will be created on the realm Vashj
The team aim's to raise $800 USD before reaching level 20.
As each goal is achieved, the goal for the next level milestone will be announced. So when $800 USD is reached, the goal for 40 will be announced, etc.
