Brandman University and Moreno Valley College Partner to Launch Virtual Transfer Program

Brandman University and Moreno Valley College have partnered to launch the Virtual Transfer Program, whereby qualified students from MVC may transfer to Brandman's local and/or fully online campuses to attain their bachelor's degree.

July 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Brandman University and Moreno Valley College have partnered to introduce the Virtual Transfer Program, VTP, whereby qualified students from Moreno Valley College may transfer to Brandman University’s Moreno Valley and/or Temecula campuses, as well as to any of its fully online programs.

The Virtual Transfer Program is another major step in the further evolution of the Early Advantage Program (EAP) Agreement that was signed by both institutions in summer 2009. The partnership allows for automatic admission to qualified students who successfully complete an associate degree at Moreno Valley College.

“What we want to do is have a seamless transition from the community college to the university,” said Dr. Shelly Neal, Associate Vice Chancellor for Brandman University. “Through the EAP, students will have the opportunity to come to Brandman and finish their education within a year to a year-and-a-half while receiving dual support from both academic institutions.”

The Early Advantage Program includes Brandman University’s new bachelor in business administration (BBA) degree, which will be offered at Brandman’s Moreno Valley and Temecula campuses, as well as fully online. Other bachelor degree programs offered through the education pathway include liberal studies and early childhood development. While enrolled, students will have access to the academic and student services of Moreno Valley College and Brandman University including advising services, information sessions, technology support and educational planning. It will also allow students to lock in their academic catalog, giving them the ability to transfer all completed coursework contained in the agreement.

Adult students and university administrators are acutely aware of the current economic climate and budget constraints occurring in California. Students are now focusing on either adjusting their career paths or alternatively returning to school, only to find out that classrooms are full. That is why Moreno Valley College President, Monte Perez, said “This agreement could not have come at a better time. It immediately gives our students a broader range of options to achieve their educational and life goals.”

Through Moreno Valley College’s partnership with Brandman University, qualified students can have the confidence that there is a “seat” waiting for them and that it fits into the demands of their busy lives. Ron Patterson, the Director of Brandman University’s Moreno Valley Campus, said, “both campuses are constantly exploring new opportunities to work together in ways that will make a difference in young people’s higher education aspirations in our local community.”

“Brandman’s accreditation, personalized service, flexible schedules for working adults and high graduation rates are key benefits for Moreno Valley College students transitioning to a bachelor’s degree program.” said Chancellor Gary Brahm of Brandman University. This historic alliance between Moreno Valley College and Brandman University is one more aspect of the jointly held goal to help the adult learner balance the needs of work and family obligations with the desire to improve individual educational attainment.
