July 17th: Crossroads Village Huckleberry Radio Hour

Do you enjoy radio shows like “A Prairie Home Companion”? Tune in for Michigans’ own “Huckleberry Radio Hour”, a one hour live radio show broadcast from the Colwell Opera House at Crossroads Village featuring live musical performances by guest artists and Village entertainers.

“The Huckleberry Radio Hour” is a throwback to those old radio days with a lot of today. Each show features Michigan’s Troubadour, Neil Woodward, a man who has entertained thousands over the years with his fiddle and stories. The host and producer of the “Huckleberry Radio Hour” is local broadcaster Michael J. Thorp along with The Flint Jubilee Chorale, Gary Weisenberg, and The Huckleberry Players.

The July 17th show features Matt Watroba.  His love of folk music has led him to his position of "Folks Like Us" radio host, a position he held for over 20 years on WDET-FM. He was awarded "Best Overall Folk Performer" by the Detroit Music Awards in the year 2000. He has shared the stage with some of our greatest performers, including Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Arlo Guthrie, Shawn Colvin, Christine Lavin, Peter Yarrow, and Richard Thompson.
