West Winds Keep PCB Oil Free!

July 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Panama City Beach still holds on to its reputation as “The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches” despite the rumors that the beaches have been effected by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.  “The biggest effect the oil spill has had on our beaches so far is that guests who only hear what the news media is putting out are convinced that the entire Florida Panhandle is coated in oil and that simply isn’t the case.    That’s sad for all concerned as it means that those families missed out on a great, fun, family vacation and the resort and town are suffering  as businesses that make most of their money in July are having to make cuts to stay afloat.” Says Philip Colvin, Marketing Director of the Holiday Inn Resort.  

The beaches of Panama City Beach are still beautiful and safe for play.  The biggest problem that these beaches have faced is the perception that the oil is a problem for this area.  The facts are, this area has had only a couple of very small tar balls wash up - which were immediately cleaned up and had no actual effect on beach goers.  These tar balls were contained to very small sections of the beach.  Each day the winds blow to the west is another day that the oil is being pushed further away from the area of Panama City Beach.  At this point both residents and tourists are starting to feel more confident that this area will remain safe from any major impact.  “We did see a lot of cancellations for July early on, but those people who had cancelled are now finding that they can still come down and enjoy a great vacation here; we are now starting to see some guests reinstate their stay.”  Says Colvin.

Summertime is a vital time of year for this beach town and with visitors scared to vacation here, despite the fact that there is no oil in this area, it is very frustrating for everyone on Panama City Beach.  For hotels, restaurants, attractions, shops, fisherman, and others the Deepwater Horizon spill has created a tough obstacle for the summer of 2010.  It’s been a tough summer, but no matter what happens the Holiday Inn Resort is still going to have a great time with all the daily activities and entertainment their guests love.  “The biggest thing we need to tell everyone is that there is no reason not to come down at this point, and there is no risk in making your vacation plans with our ‘Oil Free Guarantee’; so don’t let the news stories scare you out of your summer vacation.” Colvin said.
