July 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom – Many people have turned to natural treatments for their acne with the premise that natural treatments will be milder on their skin, they were mistaken.(http://www.clearskinmagic.com)

Natural acne treatments have been around for as long as herb gardens have grown. Many of the natural treatments are derived from herb plants. Usually the flowers or the essential oils of the plants are used, and many of the treatments have been proven effective, making them popular. So much so that many commercialized anti-acne products boast of having a certain herbal extract or the essence of a specific flower as part of their selling points.

As a result of the popularity and the affirmation of its effectiveness from big name beauty brands, some people have gone back to completely natural treatments (i.e. formulating their own.) Common treatments include floral water, essential oil mixtures, homemade moisturizers, and herbal masks or peels. Sounds similar to what would be done in any spa, right? Wrong. While the basis of the treatment is good, the risks for immediate or long term harm are high.

Audrey Roberts, author of Clear Skin Magic reacts with worry. “People have to be very careful when coming up with their own acne treatments. I know that there are some that are wonderful for the skin, but taking matters into your own hands can be disastrous. For example, tea tree oil is an excellent anti-acne oil, but in large amounts it can damage the skin. The same goes for other oils. Those who want natural acne treatments have to follow tried and tested recipes or see an herbalist that also does skincare.”

When used safely and correctly, natural acne treatments can work wonders on the skin. One can even opt to have an anti-acne regimen that only uses natural acne treatments or remedies derived from natural sources. Even then, they must be careful to make sure that the combination of treatments they use do not react badly to one another and cause skin irritation.

Being highly allergic or having sensitive skin is another thing that needs to be taken into consideration. Some natural treatments can cause the worst break-outs or rashes. “I always remind people that just because this works for someone you know, does not mean it will work for you.” continues Roberts. “We all have different skin. You have to find what works with yours.”

Those that want to use natural acne remedies must tread carefully and use one remedy at a time to make sure they do not damage their skin. They may also want to consider the most natural acne treatment in the world: a diet high in fruit and vegetables, lots of water, and lots of sleep.
