July 1, 2010 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, California (June 30, 2010) – What do you get when you combine Chelsea Handler, hundreds of crafting enthusiasts and seemingly every maxi-pad on the west coast? The second best use of feminine hygiene products in recorded history.
“Let’s Get April Winchell from Regretsy to Appear on Chelsea Lately” was launched less than one month ago on Facebook, gathering nearly 1,000 members within days. To ensure their message was heard, fans from across the country are creating “love letters” to the show’s host in the form of valentines, dolls, and statement pieces -- some even bearing the likenesses of Winchell and Handler -- made from women’s sanitary products.  Many of the pieces created so far can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=439356&id=285066400359

April Winchell, actress, author, columnist and creator of the irreverent website regretsy.com is known for her hilarious and unflinching look at the current DIY craze, taking on the ill-conceived, bizarre, and downright laughable attempts at arts and crafts items available for sale on the internet.

Under the pseudonym Helen Killer, Winchell launched regretsy.com in October 2009, and within a week was drawing 2 million visitors a day, quickly establishing regretsy.com as a comic clearinghouse of handcrafts gone horribly wrong. Within weeks she had a book deal with Random House, and Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF was published in April, 2010.
With wit, outrageousness and no sense of shame, Winchell has endeared herself to legions of fans and artists alike by calling attention to chicken ponchos, wearable hummingbird feeders, and more “artistic” reproductive organs than you can shake a poorly crafted stick at. Filled with photos, acerbic commentary, and hilarious, yet poignant essays, Regretsy has been called “Wildly funny!” by the Los Angeles Times, and "Absolutely wonderful and downright horrifying" by New York Magazine.

April Winchell has enjoyed a multi-faceted career in entertainment; as a talk radio host, a voice actress in hundreds of animated movies and television programs, a sitcom writer, a humor columnist for Conde Nast, and an award winning producer and advertising executive.  Winchell was named by Los Angeles Magazine as the 21st Funniest Person in L.A., making her funnier than Eddie Izzard, but not quite as hilarious as Johnny Knoxville.  Her father, the late Paul Winchell, was beloved by millions as the original voice of Tigger.

Known for its brash, outrageous humor and outspoken host, E! Entertainment’s Chelsea Lately is “a perfect match for April’s bold and quick wit,” explained Diana Crites, head of the campaign. “And menstrual pad dolls and tampon art seemed a natural choice to get Chelsea Handler’s attention. Utilizing a symbol of unmentionable femininity to carry out our plea to a woman who’s known for shattering taboos, what could be a better medium?”
