July 1, 2010 - PRLog -- ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Economic Gardening Institute has appointed Linda Jennings as the director of client outreach services for its GrowFL program.  Jennings brings more than 20 years experience as a public administrator, consultant and government affairs specialist, as well as expertise in strategic planning and business development to the position.

As the program’s director of client outreach, Jennings will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the many partners of the GrowFL Technical Assistance program, which supports the growth of Florida businesses by providing a free suite of economic gardening support services, as well as unique access to market research and technology.  In addition to providing specialized technical assistance, GrowFL services encompass proven strategies of economic gardening, including CEO peer roundtables, CEO forums and referral services to help second-stage companies statewide achieve their potential.

Her work to coordinate the efforts of established partners including the Florida Economic Development Council, Enterprise Florida, Workforce Florida and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council will help the GrowFL program best serve growing, second-stage client companies from around the state.

“Linda plays a crucial role in providing a consistent level of service for partners from around the state, each conducting local outreach to companies in their region,” said Dr. Tom O’Neal, executive director of the Florida Economic Gardening Institute and associate vice president for University of Central Florida’s Office of Research and Commercialization.  “Her support of their individual efforts will greatly increase our reach into underserved areas where second-stage companies need these resources to continue growing their business and creating jobs for Florida’s economy.”

Prior to joining GrowFL, Jennings held positions as a senior management consultant at a business consultancy group, the deputy director of administration for the City of Orlando, an environmental administrator and representative, and as a research assistant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Most recently, Jennings has established her own independent consulting business in Orlando, Fla.  In this role, she is responsible for developing relationships with the state and local regulatory community; communicating, negotiating and presenting client information to external agencies and seeking collaborations with the business community to explore business opportunities for her clients.

Jennings earned a master’s degree in business management from Troy University and her bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Central Florida.

The Florida Economic Gardening Institute was created by the 2009 Florida Legislature as the Economic Gardening Technical Assistance Program to stimulate investment in Florida’s economy by providing technical assistance for expanding businesses in the state.  Qualified companies must be engaged in the following sectors to receive no-cost technical assistance:  Manufacturing; Finance & Insurance Services; Wholesale Trade; Information Industries; Professional, Scientific & Technical Services; Management Services; and, Administrative & Support Services.  Additional information is available at
