June 29, 2010 - PRLog -- New York9—The first catch of the prized Yukon River Salmon, which Grand Central Oyster Bar executive chef Sandy Ingber calls the “true Maserati of the wild kings, luxurious and excellent,”  is expected to arrive at the historic seafood restaurant in New York City on Friday, July 2.

“Fishing in the lower Yukon Delta gets underway on Wednesday,” reports Ingber, “and the Yukon kings will be packed and shipped for arrival by the end of the week.

“The Yukon kings have the highest fat oil content of all the kings, and are the mildest, most delicious salmon you can find,” adds Ingber. “They just melt in your mouth. They can be prepared so many different ways, but we like to keep it simple – broiled or pan fried – to let the fish speak for itself.”

The Yukon River Salmon will be priced at $36.95, and available on the lunch and dinner menu at the Grand Central Oyster Bar, located “below sea level” at New York City’s Grand Central Terminal. For reservations call 212-490-6650.

For the past three decades until recent years, the Yukon River Salmon were shipped almost exclusively to Japan, but now the fresh supply is available annually to the American market in limited quantities.

Yukon River Salmon has the highest Omega 3 content of all salmon, making it the heart healthiest of fishes.
