The land consecration ceremony for the Krishna Lila Park to be built on Kanakapura Road was completed in the presence many religious leaders of the state. The Krishna Lila Park is an initiative of ISKCON Bangalore to promote and preserve our glorious heritage.

If you have always found it fascinating to take a breath-taking ride or a plunge at Disneyland get prepared for the ‘Vaikunta experience’, one of the main attractions of the Krishna Lila Park, a endeavor by ISKCON to enlighten people of the ancient Vedic history and our rich culture.

The land consecration ceremony for this massive project, with an estimated budget of Rs 350 crores, was held on Sunday, 20th June, 2010. The occasion was graced by the holy presence of Padmabhushana Dr Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamy of the Adichunchanagiri Maha Samsthana, Sri Sri Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Sripadaru of the Puttige Math, Sri Sri Sri Swami Harshananda Maharaj, President of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Sri Sri Sri Shivanubhava Charamurthy Shivarudra Mahaswami of Beli Math and Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji amongst others.

Chanchalapathi Dasa, the Vice Chairman of ISKCON addressed the gathering of over 700 people who had assembled at the Vaikunta hill on Kanakapura road. With a brief recap of ISKCON’s journey in Bangalore, he illustrated that the ‘Hare Krishna movement’ began in a 2-bedroom house in Rajajinagar in 1978. A few legendary photographs of the house along with those of the first Ratha Yatra, held in 1978, were exhibited. The Vice Chairman also revealed that the assets of ISKCON Bangalore, when it was initiated, included 2 Vijay scooters, a type-writer and a Bi-cycle. The evolution, since then, was molded in a set of brilliant photographs which were presented. A video depicting the rituals, festivities and cultural and artistic agenda in the temple was also presented.

The Vice Chairman also spoke about The Akshaya Patra Foundation, an Initiative of ISKCON Bangalore which is responsible for implementing the Government-run mid-day meal scheme in 8 states and feeding over 1.2 million children, making it the world’s largest NGO-run mid day meal program.

Talking about Cultural imperialism, Chanchalapathi Dasa said that the era of Globalization has changed the nature of cultures and cultural exchange. “Dominant world powers have begun to shape our societies and create a homogenized world culture. It has begun to influence the way people eat, dress, travel and practically every sphere of human activity”. “They call this coca-colonization”, he added.

A presentation was made on the 3-D animated movie, ‘Little Krishna’, a 13-episode series depicting Lord Krishna’s heroic actvities, adventures, encounters and triumph over various demons sent by Kamsa.On similar lines to present, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of India as described in the ancient Indian classics, to the contemporary society, in an interesting and captivating presentation, the celestial dream of Krishna Lila Theme Park was planned. Chanchalapathi Dasa presented a simulated vision of the Theme park modeled on 3-D animation. He also explained some of the attractions like ‘The Vaikunta experience’, ‘Aghasura water slide’, ‘Krishna Kids zone etc.

Aimed to evoke the spirit of culture and history of Vedas and aimed at promoting spiritual tourism in the IT hub the theme park will consist of a Krishna Heritage Tower, which has edutainment features like the Vaikuntha 4D simulation experience, a sky temple, a viewing gallery promising a breathtaking view of the city at 500 feet and a Vedic planetarium. It will also have water slides, which will narrate heroic tales of Lord Krishna. There will be theme based water fountains and cascades besides a food court. A park which will showcase the amazing adventures of Lord Krishna, is another highlight of the project.

As The Vice President concluded, the scaled-down replica of the Krishna Lila Theme park was unveiled by all the revered guests. As the model of the theme park emerged in a dramatic fashion, loud applauds of appreciation was heard from the audience.

In an era when nuclear families are the norm, the younger generation has been deprived the opportunity to savour the heroic tales in our epics. The park will help them know about these brave deeds in an interesting manner,” said Madhu Pandit Dasa, president of ISKCON who is incidentally the project director of the Krishna Lila Park.

Sri Sri Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Sripadaru blessed the occasion and said “This is a divine concept. Utilizing modern technology to depict our ancient values is essential in today’s world. Imparting spiritual sense to young children is a brilliant thought. I am very happy that such a project is initiated.” He also added that Lord Krishna will return to this planet at the Krishna Lila Theme Park.

Times Group Chairperson, Indu Jain said “This project has been very dear to me for several years. The mind of a young child will definitely benefit from the blend of technology and culture. We have seen people getting fascinated with Disney land and other amusement parks but once the Krishna Leela theme park is set up, they will have a better experience”.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji said “This brilliant concept will make adults to become children and help children grow up. ‘Krishna’ is the absolute joy. The theme park will not only uplift the mind and spirit but would also give a lasting impression of the culture of India’ He also said that it was truly an auspicious day which can be termed as a golden day in the history of India.

Dr Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Mahaswami rendered his blessings and said “I felt immensely pleased when I witnessed the model of the Krishna Leela theme park. This auspicious event is like paving way for a greater Bangalore. Truly a great gift for generations”
