June 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Our country’s industrialization thrusts have helped secure for the country jobs and investment opportunities amidst the threats of the recent global financial crisis.

With the establishment of a number of industrial economic zones and technology parks, the country has welcomed various opportunities for investment and employment to pump the economy.

The Arroyo administration’s sound industrial development program has resulted in the establishment of 6 agro-industrial economic zones, 63 manufacturing economic zones, 127 information technology parks and centers, 2 medical tourism parks, and 9 tourism economic zones.

Ang Pilipinas Ngayon, an advocacy program hosted by Caritas Executive Director Fr. Anton Pascual and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, discuss these developments in its advocacy spots that air daily on TV Patrol, Umagang Kay Ganda and Showtime on ABS-CBN Ch. 2 and World Tonight and Top Story on ANC.

Ang Pilipinas Ngayon is brought to us by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Stradcom, Philtranco, Petron, United Coconut Planter’s Bank, North Luzon Expressway, Development Bank of the Philippines, Pacific Pearl Airways Aviation School, Strategic Alliance Holdings, Inc., San Miguel Corporation and produced by the Pangarap ng Pilipino Movement.

Investors’ confidence in the Philippines increased as a result of the dynamic, responsive, and client-oriented ethics that the government adopted in line with its commitment to good and transparent governance.

The Integrity Development Review (IDR) was implemented to assess the management and leadership of government agencies in fighting corruption – a detrimental factor that has shooed away investors from the country in the past.

The Arroyo administration also signed into law the government procurement reform act which further highlighted government’s adherence to transparency, accountability, equity, efficiency, and economy in the procurement of goods, services, and contracting for infrastructure.

This law complements the anti-red tape act which also orders public officials and employees to exercise honesty and responsibility in transacting with the public and implement simplified procedures that will reduce red tape and expedite transactions in government.

Aside from government’s policy reforms, investors favor the country for the quality of workers we have developed.  We pride ourselves with a workforce that is literate and speaks and understands the English language.

Our workers are also easy to train and never run out of zest for new learning, not to mention their innate qualities such as hardworking and friendly.

The establishment of industrial sites in the provinces also provided equal opportunity to qualified workers and professionals outside Metro Manila.  With proper compensation and attractive benefits in these industrial zones, workers need not crowd the city to seek employment.

These employment opportunities as well as the chance to hone their skills in innovative technologies have kept some of our workers from plying their craft abroad.  Thus, they have no reason to leave their families and loved ones behind as these perks are now available at home.

The advantages of having industrial centers in the regions extend to the standard of living of families benefiting from such workplaces.  Compared to the cost of living in urban areas, workers in industries in the provinces have greater chances of saving or utilizing their hard-earned pay.

With still more investments expected to result in the development of bigger, better industries, workers are beginning to shift to relevant skills.

This becomes necessary now and in the near future so available labor can match the manpower demands of industries.

The initiatives of the Philippines in the area of industrialization have ushered in renewed confidence among investors in the country’s business climate.  Its long-term benefits are sure to be enjoyed by the people in the years to come.
