Critically Acclaimed Percussionist David Pleasant Leading Unique Program in Highlands, NCUnique performing arts workshop inspired by the Gullah-Geechee called “Shout, Juba & Jive! Intergenerational Poly-rhythmic Explorations” to take place at The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center in Highlands, NC July 16-18.
Inspired by the traditions of the Gullah-Geechee culture of the Sea Islands, David Pleasant supplies teachers, musicians, students and the general public a way to learn about early African American history through rhythm-effect vocals and drum voice techniques. He has been featured on PBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, Reading Rainbow, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and many others around the world. “David is an innovative, talented master percussionist and teacher.
