Western Australian State Migration

June 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Government of Western Australia recognises and values the positive economic and social contribution that migrants have made and continue to make to the State.

Western Australia has the strongest economy in Australia. However, to sustain high growth rates and enhance its business environment, the State needs to attract skilled workers and successful business operators from overseas.

As a result, the Government of Western Australia has established a State Migration Centre to develop and coordinate its migration programs and initiatives.

This includes:

•   the promotion of skilled and business migration to Western Australia;
•   the provision of free information and guidance to prospective skilled and business migrants; and
•   Issuing State Sponsorship on behalf of the Government of Western Australia in relation to various skilled and business visa categories.

The State Migration Centre manages an international marketing program to attract new skilled and business migrants to the State. This includes participation at commercial and government migration expos, open days, seminars and appointments.

The State Migration Centre is responsible for developing and maintaining lists of skilled occupations which are in demand in the Perth metropolitan area and in regional areas of the State. These lists are critical to ensure that the State sponsors those workers with the skills which are most in demand.

To coordinate its activities and programs, the State Migration Centre uses a network of international trade and investment offices and works closely with the State's nine Regional Development Commissions.

The State Migration Centre is located within the Small Business Development Corporation, a Government of Western Australia agency.
