Part II Psalms 109: The Peace In Prayer From The Liars & Those That Slander

Editors Note: Beloved our commission to serve the Lord takes on many obstacles and a sweet measure of persecution. For the righteous the transition and death is not pain, since death is to them to gain and eternal Joy. Meanwhile we pray for those that attempt clandestine measures of censure as loan sharks as they try to coerce and intimidate the poor and those called as messengers of Truth.

Meanwhile will there be a prayer for the most irreligious and nefarious enemies of God and His people? Can God and only God save and render mercy for those that live daily to exploit the poor and those they believe are weak. Are material resources the only power source for those of this world? But John did not smile at this false and wicked conclusion. He only cried as he found Joy daily in the Lord although his pocketbook which the Lord owned was almost empty.

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway. We also come with no material motive or gain or profit from rendering the Truth of God. Those called to great service are given the greatest prosperity that exists by God and not man.

We continue our discussion taken from Psalms 109. We are grateful once more than once as we see that even the children of the wicked are held accountable for many things of the past. What do the sins of one’s ancestors have to do with their posterity? We will resume our discussion with verse 11.

Psalms 109: 11, 13 “Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.”(Also see Isaiah 1: 7 the judgment of Judah and classic scripture found at Job 5: 5 where Job struggles with the foolish claims of Eliphaz).
Extortioner is defined as a person that extorts and forces another to pay an unreasonable sum of money for a debt etc.  For example many of the Credit Card Companies prey on the poor and those on fixed incomes. When one is robbed of his labor the verse noted here notes the phrase “spoil his labour.” Meanwhile David again makes what can be described as cruel and harsh measures toward those that attempted to rob and oppose God’s people.

109: 13 “Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.”
All through the days and times of man there has been a natural desire to have children. Here David wishes that the children be cut off. Again we see the frustration and troubled heart of David regarding the enemies of God. Will the children of the wicked from that time and these times reap what their ancestors sowed? Are they responsible for their own behavior? Will those that walked in darkness of days past pave crooked roads for their children?

Psalms 109: 14 “Let the iniquity of his father’s be remembered with the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.” (At Exodus 20 verse 5 at the Ten Commandments we also find a direct cross reference to the A part of this verse).
The children of the wicked are not punished solely on the deeds of their father’s. But if they continue in the ways of their father’s they will be punished. Also review Nehemiah the 4th Division and verse 5. Then go to Isaiah 65: 6-7 for an additional note on the gist of the scripture found at Psalms 109: 14.

109: 16: “Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.”
Cruel and unjust treatment of the poor is a means to receive harsh and severe treatment in return.  This includes even lending agencies, Credit Card Companies and countless Human Service Organizations. Now go with us to the 37th Division of Psalms.

Psalms 37: 32 “The wicked watcheth the righteous. And seeketh to slay him.”
Christians should always be on guard. The wicked continue to watch the righteous while kindness is often noted as weakness and just cause for opposition.

Psalms 109: 17-18 “As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.”
David never advocated returning evil for good. However he did call on evil or things unpleasant to come upon those that opposed God and His people as a punishment. Do the saints today pray for the punishment of those that attempt to stand in the way of Truth? Do we have more concerns and wait on God and the judgment for the workers of iniquity? See the New Testament and Matthew 7:2. Here we find Jesus teaching on criticizing others.  Many people take this scripture (verses 1-6) out of context and declare that we are not to be critical of others. But Jesus teaches that we are to be aware of false prophet’s at verses 15-20. We also note for your thought and mediation John 7: 24 where we are taught by Jesus to make a critical analysis based on fact.

For an additional word here we turn to Proverbs 14: 14 “The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.”
Keep God first beloved and stay in prayer. In the heart is where evil and good deeds come to the ways and actions of all human beings.  When one slides backwards in the heart his deeds and actions will reflect his heart’s desire. Meanwhile the second part of this verse refers to a thought noted by the Apostle Paul at Galatians 6: 4. No one is blessed by the deeds and actions of another man. We all have personal responsibility in our walk toward the kingdom. Each one must earn, or work toward their own salvation.

109: 18 “As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garments, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.”
David again makes harsh statements toward those that are wicked that come as liars and those that slander the name of the Lord and those that seek after His kingdom. The figurative use of clothes and garments mean here that the wicked are so intent in this behavior that they are surrounded as a garment covers the entire body.  The word bowels is often noted as the center of the body in scripture. Now look at what David means in the use of the word water, oil and bones. This last phrase describes a horrible condition that David wishes upon the wicked man. Did David pray this prayer? Once more do the saints that run for the Lord like David wish the same things upon their enemies? Is wishing and praying for something the same thing?

Now turn with us Psalms 73 and verse 6 for a powerful message that relates to our previous scripture taken from our primary scripture found at Psalms 109: 18.
73: 6 “Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.”
Many days we see the pompous and prideful moods and attitudes of the wicked. Often their so-called success makes them feel proud. In this temporary state and illusion they feel as secure as if they were protected by a chain. As they move in violence it also covers them as a garment.

Psalms 109: 19+ “Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.” (Also read and study Ezekiel 7 especially the last verse which is verse 27. God is angry with sin and the unnecessary troubles of the people).
Those that delight and find pleasure in disgracing others will be themselves disgraced.  Again we see David wishing that the wicked be bound up as sure as one will cloth and girdle the body.
