June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- The first pre-production 2012 OPEL AMPERA sprung to life after making the trip down the line at  the General Motors'  MICHIGAN facility.
"We're right on target for producing the Ampera for European markets later next year," said Andrew Farah, Vehicle Chief Engineer for the Ampera "There's still work to be done, but being able to drive an Opel Ampera off our pre-production line is a great accomplishment for the teams here and in Europe."

Granted, the Europeans will call it the AMPERA, but in CHINA it will be a BUICK, yet under all those models will be the Voltec technology that gives the sedan a 37-mile electric-only range and a 310-mile total range when the gas tank is filled up.

BUICK in CHINA continues to be a brand leader, this preference is borne out in the sales numbers. Since 2000, Buick has sold 2.3 million cars in China. Sales since then have ramped up at the rate of 42 percent per year.

In the first three months of this year, Buick sold 121,972 vehicles in China. That's almost four times the 32,136 it sold here at home.

Adding to the VOLT/AMPERA products, future versions will come from VAUXHALL U.K. & HOLDEN including more than the initial sedan versions.
