Xirrus Makes e-Learning Possible at Corona-Norco Unified School District

The district recently implemented laptop carts to bring online curricular resources and e-Learning platforms into the classrooms. However, their existing wireless infrastructure could not support the user density produced by this initiative. In order to fully utilize the wireless clients, the school upgraded their wireless system to Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays, which provide 8X the bandwidth of legacy access points.

“Density is the biggest issue that we’ve had with wireless in our district," said Brian Troudy, IT Manager at Corona-Norco USD. “We’ve had serious issues being able to accommodate the laptop carts that we’ve deployed throughout the campuses. We had another wireless vendor installed but based on the density issues we knew we needed to look at an alternative. The Xirrus product was very much targeted toward our specific issues, so we began to look at that and have had great success so far – in fact, we have teachers who were once turned off from using the laptop carts out of frustration who are now coming back and wanting to use the carts again.
