Airlines in the United States are seeing an increased demand for increased flight options and frequency to various destinations within Brazil and they are making news this month!

June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- As Brazil is one of the most promising markets for U.S. companies, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is projecting an average annual growth of 7 percent in passengers traveling between Brazil and the U.S. by 2030. This increase falls behind China and India, which each predict a growth of 8 percent in the period.

American Airlines requested an additional eleven weekly flights with the Department of Transportation (DOT) in the United States to be activated by October 1. Should this be approved, the airline plans to execute a daily flight between Rio de Janeiro and New York (JFK) as well as four weekly flights between Brasilia and Miami and a direct daily flight between Rio and New York on a route which is now run solely by TAM.

The flight from Rio would be operated with a 767-300 with capacity for 219 seats, while the flight to Brasilia will operate on a 757 with 182 seats. This would make American Airlines the only U.S. Company to fly from the capital of Brazil to Miami. American Airlines already operates flights to Sao Paulo, Rio, Salvador, Recife and Belo Horizonte and Delta flies to Manaus, Fortaleza, Brasilia, Sao Paulo and Rio.

Delta has already informed the DOT of plans to fly between St. Paul and Detroit twice weekly by November 4 with a possibility of making the Detroit flight daily to Guarulhos.

Copa Airlines is also planning to operate additional flights for Americans seeking travel opportunities in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte from Los Angeles with an immediate connection via Panama starting June 30. This will allow for ten flights a week and passengers have the advantage of not passing through immigration. Tickets are already being sold.

The U.S. is deploying in October the fourth and final decision for the plans of a deal with Brazil to expand the frequencies between the two countries. The Transportation Department will choose who will be assisted soon.
