June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Cricket fans will be able to take some of the heat out of the hugely popular NatWest Series One Day Internationals this summer and cover themselves in more than glory thanks to a partnership between NatWest, sun care brand Calypso and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

For the sun care manufacturer is joining forces with NatWest and Marie Curie Cancer Care in an award-winning sun-safety campaign by providing supplies of Calypso’s Press & Protect sun lotion for fans who attend any of this summer’s 15 matches including the NatWest International T20 matches.

Cricket lovers who find themselves getting a little hot under the collar in the sun-baked stands can simply head for one of the NatWest Help Points, where, in return for a small donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care, they will receive some Calypso Sun Lotion and sun care advice to ensure they are protected.

“We are delighted to be involved in this campaign because sun-safety is our number one priority,” said Seena Seka, Head of Product Development at Calypso’s Carrington, Manchester HQ.

"When NatWest and Marie Curie approached us, we did not hesitate in supporting them especially in view of a recent survey by Cancer Research UK which showed skin cancer death rates had doubled in recent years. The CRUK research pointed out that there were fewer than 400 deaths from melanoma in the 1970s but that figure has risen to more than 1,200.

“Too often men leave it up to their partners to remind them to use sun protection or to cover up with a shirt and hat. And it is especially important to wear some form of protection when out in the open air playing or even watching sport.

“We immediately offered our support with supplies of Press & Protect because these specially designed bottles deliver measured amounts of sun protection so the user can be assured that they are applying the optimum amount of sun protection.

“Calypso Press & Protect was launched this year and was designed to give users peace of mind by enabling them to ensure they are properly protected from the sun -now I think we can safely say that it has left people bowled over.”

Arun Sharma, Head of Corporate Fundraising at Marie Curie Cancer Care said: “To date donations at the NatWest Series have raised over £500,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We’re incredibly grateful to NatWest for allowing us this fundraising opportunity and to Calypso for providing this year’s sun cream free of charge.

“We expect Calypso’s donation to raise approximately £5,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care this year, helping us fund 250 hours of care for terminally ill patients and support for their families.”

The NatWest Help Points featuring Calypso Press & Protect make their cricket debut next Tuesday (June 22) at the Rose Bowl in Southampton for the first NatWest Series match featuring England against Australia as part of NatWest’s commitment to helping fans enjoy their match day experience.

The NatWest Help Points featuring Calypso sun protection will be available to fans at a further 14 NatWest sponsored international games including matches at Old Trafford, The Brit Oval and Trent Bridge until the final game in the series against Pakistan on September 22.
