June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- ((NAPERVILLE)—Kaveh Adel will perform a book signing this week at Anderson’s Bookshop for his illustrated children’s book, The Boy and the Red Balloon.
Adel will appear alongside other Naperville writers for the bookstore’s annual Home Grown Authors Event. The proceedings run from 2-4 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Anderson’s Bookshop is located in downtown
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share my vision with the people of Naperville, Adel said. “This book, like this town, means so much to me.”
The Boy and the Red Balloon (CreateSpace; March 2010; Hardcover: $11) tells the fanciful tale of an estranged balloon determined to reunite with his friend, a young boy. Floating above the Earth, the balloon encounters black birds, white clouds, and blue skies. The simple color-coding is designed to help children develop vocabulary words and better understand their sensory surroundings.  Eventually, with help from his mile-high friends, the balloon drifts back into the boy’s loving arms.
The Boy and the Red Balloon is the first in a series of books inspired by Adel’s four-year-old son, Kian.
“Just as much as I teach him, he teaches me,” says Adel. “I see the world anew, like a child. This book is an expression of that feeling.”
Adel, 36, has been a family dental practitioner in Naperville since 2000. The Boy and the Red Balloon is his first book, though not his first foray in the creative arts. Adel studied studio art at the University of Iowa before becoming a Doctor of Dental Surgery.  As part of his commitment to children and the sciences, Adel will donate 10 percent of the book’s profits to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Autism Speaks.
Anderson’s Bookshop is located in downtown Naperville at 123 W. Jefferson Avenue. For further information on the Home Grown Authors Event, contact Gail Wetta, the bookshop’s Events & Publicity liaison, at 630-355-2665.
