June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- San Diego, Ca – Upon the recommendation of match officials, NPSL Commissioner Dan Trainor has awarded a victory and the resulting three points to San Diego Boca FC for their league match against Southern Oregon Fuego June 19 due to the Fuego’s use of an ineligible player.

In the 66th minute, the ineligible player entered as a substitute, and soon after scored the first goal for Southern Oregon to tie the match at 1-1. Due to his involvement in the match, the Fuego have been forced to forfeit the match and the resulting three points.

NPSL rules allow for 18 players to be listed as active on match day, making only those players eligible to participate. The player in question was not listed on the pre-game active roster for the Fuego, thus ruling him unavailable to play.

The standings of the Western Division have been adjusted accordingly due to the ruling, now placing San Diego Boca FC (4-1-2) back in third place with 13 points. They trail second place Real San Jose (5-1-3) by only three points, but have played two fewer games. The teams that finish the regular season with the two highest point totals will secure home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs, which are held in July.

Boca FC’s next match comes on Saturday, June 26 at 7:00 pm at Helix High Soccer Stadium against the Sonoma County Sol (2-4-2). Boca FC won the first matchup on the road against Sonoma in a 2-1 thriller on May 9th. It is sure to be an exciting match, as both sides understand the importance of the game and the impact it will have on the standings.
