Major Cause of Human Violence

The misunderstanding, misuse and abuse of human sexuality is responsible for much of the violence that plagues mankind, says author  Boyé Lafayette De Mente in a new book, THE ORIGINS OF HUMAN VIOLENCE – Male Dominance, Ignorance, Religions and Willful Stupidity.

Known internationally for his books on the business practices and cultures of China, Japan, Korea and Mexico, De Mente lays most of the blame for this ongoing human disaster on the misguided efforts of religions to create and enforce sexual behavior on people that is incompatible with human nature.

“The genetic coding of human beings is designed to ensure the survival of the species by making procreation second only to day-to-day survival in the struggle for life,” De Mente says.

“This means that both males and females are programmed to engage in sex on a regular basis from the age of puberty, and when this sexual energy is not used up there is a strong negative influence, especially on males, resulting in them losing some of their ability to think and behave rationally.”

De Mente adds that the religious-based social and legal sanctions created by societies to force humans to suppress their natural sexual urges originally had good intentions, but that they result in a build-up of sexual energy that males in particular cannot or do not always control and end up engaging in some form and degree of violence against others—especially against females.

“Females also have powerful sexual needs that are programmed into their makeup, but there are even stricter sanctions that force them to suppress and internalize this sexual energy instead of striking out against others,” he adds. “Even more importantly,” he goes on, “females are also genetically constituted to be caring and nurturing and to avoid violence.”

After castigating male-dominated Judaism, Christianity and Islam for their failure to deal humanely and effectively with human sexuality, De Mente proposes a series of sexual reforms he claims would make it possible for both males and females to use up their sexual energy as “nature intended” and create a rational paradigm for human sexual behavior.

De Mente says that many of the reforms he proposes are slowly but surely emerging on their own as young people create their own sexual standards…but that this evolutionary process could take generations to mature because of the powerful hold that religions have on the minds of people.

The book also claims that the prevailing morality of humanity is profit—and that this applies to all enterprises and organizations, including governments and religions, with the Catholic Church being one of the world’s largest profit-oriented enterprises.
