You see, we can build the panel ourselves without having to splash out a lot of money!

To build the solar panel, you need these items: Solar cells, wood, wire, solder, silicon sealant, screws, UV paint and non-reflective glass.

Frankly, the panel is not difficult to make provided you have the right step-by-step instructions in place.

Now, if you’re talking how about how to build a solar power generator, you need other items to link up with the solar panel that you’ve constructed.

2) Components to Get the System Running

These items are needed to make your entire system run smoothly:

Charge controller, array DC disconnect, Deep cycle battery, Main DC disconnect, Inverter and also a system meter.  

The latter is a very useful optional add-on as it displays the amount of energy being used. It also allows you to monitor your entire solar power system.

3) Test! Test! Test!   

It’s vital that you test your solar cells before building the panel.

Be sure to measure the cells’ power in full sun. Just hold them upright facing the sun and use a multimeter to get the proper reading.

Be very careful though…

The cells are extremely fragile so do handle them with care!

4) Try to Obtain the Best Learning Source for Newbies

I regard step-by-step video tutorials as the best learning source for newbies. I’ve waded through dozens of instructional manuals and had zero success using them!
