Follow on Google News | Faith Chapel Christian Center and Tyscot Records Present “Harmony Music + Business Conference”National Gospel recording label, Tyscot Records has teamed with Faith Chapel Christian Center to host the Harmony Music + Business Conference August 5th through August 8th at Faith Chapel Christian Center, located in Birmingham, AL.
Tyscot Records is the nation's oldest African-American owned and operated Gospel-recording label. Tyscot has brought the world some of the best in Gospel music since it’s beginning in1976 and continues to be the home of many of your favorite Gospel artists today, including Deitrick Haddon and the Voices of Unity, Damita Haddon, the Rance Allen Group, Kathy Taylor, and Shirley Murdock. The conference schedule of events includes a celebrity-judged artist showcase on Thursday, August 5th. On Friday, August 6th, session topics will include “Establishing An Effective Praise & Worship Team,” “Learning to Read Music,” and “Marketing, Retail and Distribution.” The registration fee for the Harmony Music + Business Conference is $89 for the June 16th thru July 15th early bird, $99 if you register after July 15th. The cost for participation in the artist showcase is $150. Dr. Leonard Scott, Founder and President of Tyscot Records and Dr. Henry Panion, III, Faith Chapel’s Senior Director of Fine Arts and the distinguished University Professor of Music at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), both say, “Just as in an orchestra, everyone has a unique and integral part to play in the Master’s service. It now stands as the oldest Black owned Gospel recording label in the nation. Dr. Scott and Tyson established Tyscot Records as a recording vehicle for a local church choir project. Dr. Leonard Scott initially operated the company (Tyscot Records) from offices in his dental practice. In the 1980’s the label gained momentum by signing artists such as the Rev. Bill Sawyer and the Christian Tabernacle Choir, and Robert Turner and the Silver Hearts. About Faith Chapel Christian Center (www.faithchapel.net) Faith Chapel started in April, 1981 in Dr. Michael D. Moore's home in the Wylam community of Birmingham, Alabama. The church began with four people: Dr. Moore, his wife Kennetha, his mother, and a friend. In six months, the church grew then moved in June, 1981 to Stallworth Funeral Home. Within a year, the church re-located to the YWCA in downtown Birmingham. Today the congregation has reached over 7,000 members and is housed in the world’s largest monolithic dome.
