By: Manager-Advertising & Media The normal heart has two pumping chambers called ventricles and two great vessels which carry the blood to different parts of the body. The ventricle on the right side gives rise to the aorta which conveys blood to the whole blood where as the ventricle on the right side gives rise to the pulmonary artery which supplies blood to the lung. These two ventricles are seperated by a muscular wall called septum and blood on either side of the septum do not mix. In this case, this septum was deficient and the aorta was arising from the right ventricle and blood from both ventricles were getting mixed up. Also along with these defects the pulmonary artery was also obstructed due to abnormal muscular bundles. Surgical correction of these defects is the only treatment fro this condition.
