“When One of Us Stands” – Aircast’s Creative Director, Randy Hart, selected by WSMV-TV

June 17, 2010 - PRLog -- On June 4, 2010, NBC’s affiliate in Nashville, WSMV TV – Channel 4, began airing a video to commemorate the heroics of its people during the historic flooding of Nashville, Tennessee in early May, set to the song, “When One of Us Stands”. This incredibly moving song, produced by Randy Hart of Megatrax’ Aircast Division, was written specifically for Nashville, upon request of the station, to speak to the spirit of the community.

Aircast was able to call on renowned singer/songwriter, Gary Burr to compose and sing the song.  Burr, a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, has written hit songs for such artists as Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire and Tim McGraw. Hart says, “Gary agreed to do this and wrote something extraordinary”.

With his lyrics, Burr was able to touch upon the pride, determination, and selflessness as neighbors joined together to help one another through the tragic event. The song sent a universal message that was produced to be musically diverse and with a few changed lyrics, could apply anywhere.

“There are outstretched hearts and hands as far as the eye can see. It seems like reaching out is in our blood in Tennessee…When one of us rises, we all rise, and don’t you ever doubt it.”

This type of local television image campaign used to be a more routine promotion for broadcasters but through the years has fallen victim to budget cuts. However, WSMV TV felt the need to address the heroics of its Nashville community and ran the three and a half minute video during their afternoon and evening newscasts. The station’s success with its immediate viewer response “reiterates the value of how this type of promotion strengthens their brand within the community and broadcasters are rediscovering this unique tool.”
