BP purchases 10 Barber SURF RAKE beach cleaners to fight Oil Spill affected beaches.

June 15, 2010 - PRLog -- BP has purchased 10 Barber SURF RAKE beach cleaners to aid in the clean up efforts in the Gulf Coast. As more Oil comes ashore, it will be necessary to perform daily cleaning of incoming tar balls, and oil residue.

It became clear that the current manual cleaning method which utilizes hand rakes and shovels to remove the oil is too slow and difficult to sustain as the amount of oil hitting the beaches increases. It is anticipated that mechanical raking with the SURF RAKE will speed the beach cleaning process and help maintain the stability of the coastline.

After testing by BP and local municipalities, BP issued an order for an initial 10 units to be deployed immediately.
