In regards to companies activities in the CEE region Mondi has opened a manufacturing plant in Swiecie, Poland which it claims is one of the most modern corrugated packaging plants in Europe. The latest investment supports Mondi Corrugated Packaging’s network, of five plants in Poland and a total of 18 plants in Europe.
EUR 45 million was invested in the corrugated packaging plant which is part of a major investment project of a EUR 350 million budget at Mondi Swiecie in Poland. The plant has a recycled fibre plant, a lightweight recycled paper machine (ECO7), a paper warehouse and the new corrugated plant.

Weidenhammer Packaging Group, a supplier of composite cans, composite drums and plastic containers, has launched a new composite can production operations in the Russian city of Vladimir near Moscow. Composite cans for the Russian market will initially be produced on one production line. Customers include international food companies as well as local market leaders. The production facility is operated as part of a joint venture with Greiner Packaging Russia. Vladimir is the first Weidenhammer plant in Russia and the company's twelfth production facility worldwide.
Sti opens Romanian plant in the town of Cluj-Napoca is the site of the STI Group's new folding box factory. While production actually launched in late January 2010, the official dedication came just a few days ago. The new plant is the STI Group's fourth to specialise in folding boxes, securing the corporation its spot as one of the leading providers in Europe. In many ways, the decision to establish a plant in Romania is just the STI Group's way of following its customers, many of whom have been receiving shipments from the Hungarian plant in Kecskemét in recent years.
Edelmann is planning to expand capacity in 2010/2011 at it Polish Box plant. This year the Polish subsidiary will move into new, expanded production facilities in Warsaw and commission a new printing press.
Ilim Group’s board of directors has approved an investment of approximately US$700 million to build a new kraft pulp mill to be built in Siberia. The financing for the project is being arranged by the joint venture.
