June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Ekinops, designer and supplier of next generation optical transport equipment for service providers and enterprises, and Marubeni Information Systems(MSYS), a solution provider of high value-added solutions and services, have signed an agreement in which MSYS will sell, support, and maintain Ekinops equipment in the Japanese telecom service provider market.

The two companies announced the agreement today, and said they are jointly focused on the optical equipment market in Japan, which is one of the largest in the world, and which continues to grow as service providers upgrade their networks to transport the additional traffic generated by advancing technologies such as 4G wireless and fiber to the home.

Under the agreement, Ekinops and MSYS are working together to bring the Ekinops 360 metro, regional, and long haul DWDM platform to market in Japan. The Ekinops 360 plaform, with its T-Chip®  (Transport on a Chip) technology, is uniquely positioned to address the varied and dynamic requirements of Japanese service providers and enterprises, who transport a wide variety of traffic types, including SONET, video, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel. With the Ekinops 360 portfolio, they have a solution that delivers the lowest total cost of ownership, in a single platform, with high performance and unparalleled stability and quality.

The Ekinops 360 Dynamic Multi-Reach Transport System provides DWDM and CWDM in a single solution that addresses metro, regional, and long haul applications. It offers industry-leading features such as DynaMux®, dynamic multiplexing functionality that allows multiplexing of any mix of protocols over a single wavelength and over any protocol on that wavelength; the industry’s best forward error correction, the innovative DynaFEC®, which eliminates errors in transmission and enables longer reach using software instead of expensive hardware; and WaveBonding®, a low-cost, long-reach 40G technology that makes 40G affordable today.

These capabilities and more are enabled by Ekinops’ T-Chip technology, which reduces all the electronics in a transport system down to a single uniquely programmable chip. This allows Ekinops to produce highly flexible and customized products in a short time, all with a reduced footprint and lower power consumption.

“This agreement offers tremendous advantages both to Ekinops and MSYS, as well as to MSYS’s customers,” said Marc Olivier, Vice President of Sales at Ekinops. “MSYS’s channel, technical support, and maintenance services are unequaled, and the company’s reputation for expertise and quality is second to none. With the WDM transport solutions enabled by the Ekinops 360, MSYS will continue to build on their reputation as a market maker in the WDM space.”

MSYS noted that the particular strengths of the Ekinops 360 will appeal to its Japanese customers from access, metro and to long-haul, who demand high quality in the products they buy, along with reliability, flexibility, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in a single platform.
