High Flying Thriller – “Orbital Maneuvers” Published By Smashwords In Multiple E-Book Formats

June 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Smashwords publishing has released “Orbital Maneuvers” by RC Davison in multiple ebook formats, including formats compatible with the iPhone, iPad, Kindle, and Sony readers.  This compliments the release of the print version of the book by Createspace.com.

    The novel follows a space shuttle crew that is stranded in orbit after a devastating asteroid impact on Earth.  The crew's only chance for survival is to get to the abandoned International Space Station, and use the docked Crew Return Vehicle to get back to the surface.  While the crew tries to cope with the disaster unfolding below them, the actions of one crew member threatens them all as he tries to save himself at any cost.  

    The story introduces the reader to the immense International Space Station, as it plays a pivotal role to the crew’s survival.  But, the drama on the station is dwarfed by the chilling descriptions of the asteroid impact on Earth, which sets the backdrop to the story.  In the end-notes, the author discusses the consequences of such impacts on Earth, and presents the case for a continued detailed survey of such dangerous Earth-crossing asteroids.  “The book was written mainly as a vehicle for entertainment, but I hope that the readers come away with much more,” said the author, RC Davison. “The real point is that this is one of the few natural disasters we may have an opportunity to avert, provided we have enough time to prepare.”
