Before we get into how to correct the bold text issue, let’s agree on a couple of things so we can all be on the same page. Our intentions with this article are to provide basic information that any person can follow along, no matter how new to Dreamweaver they are. Our experiences with those who have called on us to help them undo the bold issue have shown us that CSS is mostly to blame. Now earlier, I said we are not going to use jargon that people new to Dreamweaver or web design are not familiar with, but the fact is that no matter what your reason for utilizing Dreamweaver you are going to have to deal with css at one point or another. You see, even if you are not aware of it, every time you use Dreamweaver it places css code in your page. And most of the time this code is what is causing your text to be bold. So, What’s The Simple Answer to Undo Bold Text? Since we cannot physically see what the problem you are experiencing with the bold text problem, we are going to specify some of the most common issues that can cause bold text and the solution for removing it. The table is being considered a Header table by Dreamweaver. 1. Place the cursor in the area that is bold. 2.Look on the bottom of the Dreamweaver window and you will see a box labeled Header. Uncheck this box. Note: If you do not see a box labelled Header in the bottom of the page. Go to "Window" on the top of the page and click it. On the drop down menu click "Properties" Your text is being formatted by the css style. 1. Click on "Window" at the top of the page. 2. In the drop down menu click on CSS. 3. This will open a window (CSS) on the top right hand area of the page. 4. Click on all if not already selected. 5. Navigate to the bottom half of the CSS window and scroll until you find "Font-Weight" 6. On "Font – Weight" click on the area that says bold. 7. A drop down menu appears. Click on normal or 400. The Bold should now be gone. Note: This is an easy way of doing away with bold if you just started the document and there is not a lot of text on it. Your text is being formatted by the CSS style. Solution #2 1. Follow the steps above to open the CSS window if not open already. 2. On the upper half of the window, locate the "Body" or it may look something like this: body, h1, th, tr,. 3. Click on "Body" and you will see the bottom half of the window now show the body style. 4. Again locate "Font-Weight" 5. The drop down menu will appear. Click on "Normal" or 400. Note: This will pretty much clear MOST of the bold in the entire page. So be ready for it. Another design tool that can cause your text to be bold are the "h tags". 1. Place your cursor on the bold text. 2. On the bottom of the page (left hand side) you are going to see a drop down menu labelled "Format". 3. Click the arrow so the drop down menu opens. 4. Click on "None". The bold will be gone. Note: If you had an "h tag" and you delete the text by using backspace, any text you placed there will be bold because the "h tag" will still exist. It may look like this in your code: . If this is the case click in the empty area (table) and follow the same directions. "Page Properties" can also cause your text to be bold. 1. Go to the bottom of the page and locate "Page Properties". If you cannot see "Page Properties" on the bottom of the page, scroll up, click "Window", and click "Properties" 2. Click "Page Properties" at the bottom of the page. The "Page Properties" window opens. 3. Click "Appearance" 4. On the right hand (top) if "Bold" (B) is selected click on it to de-select. 5.
