Musem Quality Sheffield Sterling Silver Epergne Now On Sale

June 11, 2010 - PRLog -- This magnificent Georgian reproduction sterling silver five basket epergne, or centerpiece, was made by Thomas Bradbury and Sons of Sheffield, England in 1924, and was retailed by Shreve, Crump and Low, Co., of Boston, Mass. The epergne is in the transitional George II/III style, circa 1760 and has a central large detachable basket, four detachable arms (numbered 1 through 4) with four smaller baskets, all mounted on a central pierced and cast frame, with numbered slots (1 through 4)for each arm. The epergne is of rococco design. The baskets are pierced with trellis, ovolo, star and quatrefoil motifs. The body is cast with floral and leaf form swags terminating in graceful "c" scroll and leaf form legs on cast leaf pad form feet. This Georgian style epergne exudes elegance and style. It would be a stately addition to any home. The epergne is in excellent estate condition and weighs a total of 108 troy ounces. Length across baskets: 20" square. Height 14".   Price: $25,000
