Ohio Energy Consultant Focuses on Green

June 11, 2010 - PRLog -- NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH – EnergyFit Living, Inc., a company that helps homeowners reduce energy costs through in-home consultations and custom EnergyFit Plans, was the result of one couple’s desire to go green and save money in their own home.

“My wife and I felt the best place to start going green was here in our home,” says Chris Salem, EnergyFit’s co-founder. “Together we wanted to find ways we could quickly reduce our energy costs without having to spend a lot of money up front.”

“We decided to go green for three main reasons - to save money, to save energy and to save the environment,” says Salem.

To go green, the couple focused on simple, affordable solutions that would save them money and show a quick return on their investment.  Realizing the amount of money they could save, and how affordable it could be, the Salem’s decided to create EnergyFit to help others reap the same benefits and savings.

The Salem’s practice what they preach to their customers, and instituted several green programs early on.  Green improvements to their own home included: changing all the light bulbs to energy efficient light bulbs; installing a programmable thermostat; sealing all exterior doors and windows to minimize loss of energy; and installing low-flow showerheads and low-flow aerators on all faucets to save water. The couple also put a recycling program in place for the business.

To help them further down the path to green, the Salems and EnergyFit joined the Green Business Bureau, the nation’s leading green business certification program.  

“Joining the Green Business Bureau allowed us to become part of their nationally- recognized network of green friendly businesses,” says Salem.  “We chose the Green Business Bureau over other programs because of the friend communications and personal assistance they provide.  Our Green Business Bureau representatives contacts us regularly to see if we need anything.  This is not a program that you join and that’s it.  

Rather, it’s an ongoing and interactive program that continues promoting the importance of going green.”

As members of the Green Business Bureau, the Salems are looking forward to teaching and encouraging others to make the same green changes they did.

“EnergyFit Living wants to be able to overcome some of the objectives of why people aren’t going green,” says Salem.  “We want to let others know that they can afford to go green, by educating them on how easy and affordable it is to go green and that going green will save them money in the short term.”
