June 12, 2010 - PRLog -- “A great way to start the day,” says Mick Blore, Chief Creative Officer of Y&R SA. On the back of winning at this years’ One Show and at the Clios, the agency received news of its success at the 2010 New York Festivals Advertising Awards held on 11 June in Shanghai, China.

Off the 11 pieces entered, Y&R’s four finalists translated into a Gold World Medal for Land Rover ‘Everywhere URL’, a Silver World Medal for Ecomist ‘Eliminates Odours’ and a Shortlist for both African Diamond Council ‘Blood Diamond’ and UNICEF ‘Toy Soldiers’.

On top of which, the television ad for African Diamond Council ‘Blood Diamond’ (runaway winner at this years’ VUKA awards) achieved the prestigious United Nations (UN) Award. The UNDPI (UN Department of Public Information) award was established in 1990 by New York Festivals and the UNDPI to recognise public service advertising, which best exemplifies the ideals and goals of the UN.

“From a global point of view, this success added to the others, will push our network ranking within Y&R up too. Last year we were ranked 20th out of 187 offices. By the end of this year we should be in the top five agencies in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and the world. It shows our ideas are getting results,” says Blore.

For the first time in the agency’s 42-year history, Y&R SA has entered more than 70 pieces into the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. Blore adds, “It’s the strongest body of work my teams and I have ever put together. My hope is that it will reward the judges and stand out from the other billion entries”.
