RGA Statement on California Primaries

Whitman's Fresh Ideas to Contrast with Brown's Tired Policies
June 9, 2010 - PRLog -- California primary voters have selected Republican Meg Whitman to face Democrat Jerry Brown in November’s gubernatorial election.  Republican Governors Association spokesman Tim Murtaugh issued the following statement:

“Meg Whitman brings new ideas and a vision of California where lower taxes, controlled government spending and reduced governmental meddling in business will encourage job creation, economic growth and prosperity.  As a successful businesswoman, Whitman has the experience to fix California’s finances, restore accountability and focus on the bottom line.

“Jerry Brown is a vestige of the failed policies of the past.  In a partisan political career spanning six decades he has consistently turned to government as the solution to every problem and sought to pay for it at the expense of the hardworking taxpayers of California.

“It is a testament to Jerry Brown’s weakness as a candidate that the Democratic Governors Association and other partisan groups sought to interfere in the Republican primary election with massive spending on negative advertising.  They know Jerry Brown is weak.  And they know Meg Whitman is the one who can beat him.”
