Summer of 5,000 Wishes with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida

June 9, 2010 - PRLog -- The “Summer of 5,000 Wishes” program begins at the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida as the favorite season for children arrives. Nationally, the Foundation hopes to grant 5,000 wishes, while the local Southwest Florida goal is to grant 45 wishes as part of the program.

“The Foundation grants more wishes during the summer months than any other time during the year,” said Norman Wedderburn, President and CEO. “It’s the perfect time for kids to travel on vacations with their families or just take a much-needed break from their daily routine and experience their heartfelt wishes come true. The request for summer wishes is increasing, and we need the continuing support of the community.”

Many local children are looking forward to getting their wishes granted this summer. Two new wishes were identified recently from local children, they are:  9-year-old Jaeleign, who would like to meet Michelle Obama, and 16-year-old Forrest, who would like to travel to Rome, Italy.
