Event Announcement: Dogs in the Park -- 1st Annual Benefit to Support Friends of Retired Greyhounds

June 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Northglenn, Colo. (June 9, 2010) – Friends of Retired Greyhounds, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, announces its first annual 3K, charity dog walk, Dogs in the Park. E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park in Northglenn will host Dogs in the Park on Sunday, June 27 at 10 a.m. FORGreyhounds looks to raise $50,000 to help place retired greyhounds into responsible homes.

Since 2000, FORGreyhounds has been working with kennel operators and adoption agencies across the U.S. to obtain retired racers. Once obtained, they go through medical examinations, and are then cleared to go into foster homes or Crowley County Correctional Facility’s Cell Dogs Program.

Friends of Retired Greyhounds is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to cooperating with kennel operators and other adoption groups to place retired greyhounds in responsible, loving homes. Our organization works with veterinarians to insure that dogs adopted from FOR greyhounds are vaccinated, and in general good health before placing them in homes. In addition to this, we educate individuals and groups about greyhounds, their history, their lives as racing dogs, and our adoption program.
