Family Service Offers Teens Traditional Etiquette Classes with Modern Standards

June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Burlington, N.J. --- Burlington City High School students enrolled in Family Service’s School Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP) are learning what it takes to make it in the professional world through a five week etiquette workshop. The workshop is split into two programs; one for females called Me First, and one for males entitled A Gentlemen. Both groups learn proper dress code for the workplace, the norms of fine dining, grooming techniques, plus time and money management skills.

The students will utilize all that they’ve learned on June 9, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. by taking limousines donated by two local funeral homes to Café Madison in Riverside, N.J. for a five course meal. Youth Development Specialist, Tracey Croom states, “Despite the economy and a limited budget, it was amazing to have so many wonderful companies give a helping hand in teaching our kids the skills they need to succeed in today’s world.”

The students of Burlington County Institute of Technology in Westampton, N.J. also helped out. Horticulture students provided the flowers that the male students gave to the females, fashion students supplied tips for clothing different body shapes and cosmetology students gave hair and facial care techniques.

Family Service’s School Based Youth Services Program provides services that help students navigate their adolescent years and finish their education while obtaining skills for employment or further education. The ultimate goal is to graduate high school healthy and drug free with a plan for the future.
