Barix Announces OEM Partnership with Aiphone

New Barix OEM device for Aiphone is a customized network intercom adapter featuring Aiphone proprietary software for remote door activation, group calling, event logging and voice recording.

June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Barix AG, a pioneer in IP-based audio, intercom, control, and monitoring, has developed an OEM device for Aiphone Communications Systems based on the successful Barix Annuncicom series of intercom and two-way audio devices.  The project is the latest in a long list of significant OEM wins for Barix, which has supplied tens of thousands of IP-based OEM devices to the global marketplace.

“Barix is very happy to announce our OEM partnership with Aiphone, a market leader in intercom solutions with an extensive sales reach, strong sales organization and a very high and consistent approach to quality,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and Founder of Barix AG.  “We are proud that Aiphone has selected Barix as a development partner and supplier for a core product, and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.”

At InfoComm 2010, Barix will exhibit its latest OEM invention that is exclusively marketed by Aiphone and its channel partners.  The Aiphone IPW-1A network intercom adapter is a customized Annuncicom solution featuring Aiphone proprietary “CommuniCenter” software for remote door activation, group calling, event logging and voice recording.  Barix developed the OEM solution in partnership with Aiphone to its exact specifications, with the two companies working together to create a network intercom adapter for high-quality voice/audio communication over TCP/IP networks.

The IP intercom devices connect to Aiphone IE Series door stations and communicate with PCs as intercom master stations.  They are equally reliable in small and large communication networks, and capable of connecting any number of PCs and door stations to any new or existing LAN/WAN network infrastructure.

“Aiphone is pleased to have worked with Barix on the development of a high-quality intercom solution that will extend installation opportunities for our customers,” said Futoshi Tanaka, CEO of Aiphone Communications Systems in the U.S.  “Using this new device, Aiphone end users and integrators can build scalable intercom solutions of any size for a variety of applications that range from general security and institutional intercom and paging to commercial, industrial and residential access control.  This can be achieved through the ability to deploy an unlimited number of IPW-1A devices for door stations and other locations and connect them all over a centralized IP network.”

The adapter features universal Aiphone IPW hardware with an “under the hood” custom Barix solution.  This provides flexibility for Aiphone, Barix and third parties such as systems integrators or end users to reprogram the devices for added functionality.  This includes loading the Barix SIP Firmware Toolkit (also to be introduced at InfoComm) to convert Aiphone door stations into SIP-compatible door stations that can interface to PBX phone systems.

All Barix products are inexpensive, low-power devices that are scalable to the growth of the operation; offer reliability through a PC-FREE design with no moving parts; and serve as a flexible platform for integration into virtually any operation requiring audio transport and delivery.  Barix also offers its programmable BCL standard open to all customers to easily tailor applications for specific needs.  Local control, audio relay, and low-latency streaming are a few examples of custom programs using Barix’ BCL software environment.
