JSM financial: U.S. private equity firm TGP Capital focuses on China’s clean tech sector.

June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Sources known to JSM Financial have learned that TGP Capital, one of the world’s leading private equity firms has said it sees opportunities in China’s growing clean tech sector as well as financial restructuring.

"We will focus on new and emerging sectors, for instance, new tech, clean tech or health care," JSM Financial understands Mary Ma the managing director at TPG said in a recent interview, adding that the firm felt that these were very high-growth and high potential areas in China today.

While large buyouts are rare in the eastern economic giant the MD said she still felt that many deal opportunities were likely to emerge within the next few years, especially in the financial investment industry.

"I still believe that there is some sort of restructuring cases coming out, not only state owned enterprises, but also the private companies," JSM Financial understands Ma added.

The managing director refused to confirm recent market speculation that TGP was planning to establish an RMB fund but she did say that with an RMB there were definitely more opportunities.

The firm has been active in China for 15 years and intends accelerating its localization in that nation with new hiring initiatives, according to Ma.

Earlier this year TGP made a $2.4 billion profit, 16 times its money back on a six year investment into the Shenzhen Development bank.

JSM Financial Research shows that Mary Ma joined TGP three years ago from the Chinese personal computer maker, Lenovo, and is now a partner as well as MD at the private equity firm.
