June 8, 2010 - PRLog -- But lately, talks between Volkswagen and Proton have broken down without the two sides coming to an agreement on a partnership, according to multiple published reports.

The dive in Proton’s shares during Asian stock trading appears to demonstrate investor uncertainty in the company’s ability to grow and develop.  “Proton’s need for a strategic partner to leverage on to enter the global export market is crucial at this juncture before Proton gets further left behind by the competition,” firm OSK Research told Forbes.

Proton said it would continue to pursue its “multi-local OEM” strategy in Asia, including local assembly in key emerging developing markets, as well as its technology partnership with Mitsubishi Motors.

And for conclusion thanks to morondetector comment from paultan blog:

If Proton couldn’t survive because the management is incompetent and couldn’t compete with other car-makers, the workers should blame them. Why are you so proud of the fact that Malaysians continue to pay high prices for substandard cars in order for a few thousand people to have work? You sounded like a naive and ignorant kid who thinks that world owe every one a living. it is the stupid govt policy which pampered Proton for many years and make them uncompetitive and if its fail and the workers cannot work, the govt is fully responsible for the current state of affairs and let’s not get me started on the manufacturer of OEM parts that supply only to Proton as though they cannot survive without Proton. They never bother to enhance their quality in order to expand their market to overseas… Who can they blame? I suspect you are a business owner of one of those leeching OEM makers or else you won’t be talking like you owe them a living. Nobody owes PROTON a living or owes PROTON survival. Blame Mahathir; blame the govt. for pampering them and making them uncompetitive…
