June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- CHULA VISTA, CA.  With Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia on the rise, finding quality care can be a challenge. Now those living in the Chula Vista area are finding a solution at Villa Bonita, a premiere senior living community.  It recently dedicated a new area of its community to serve those specifically with Memory Care issues. In addition to the 14 new Memory Care apartments, Villa Bonita also remodeled several areas of the community to enhance living for all residents.

“We are so pleased to have the opportunity to offer a home to those with memory care issues,” said Kira Anthofer, executive director of Villa Bonita. “Our Generations Program, the apartments and common areas have all been carefully designed with their needs in mind and to provide them with the best care in the area.”

The new Memory Care area physically features many elements to make life better. It has wonderful walking paths in a newly secured outdoor courtyard, a state-of-the-art delayed egress system, soothing colors throughout the building, and several pieces of nostalgic artwork reminding residents of the days they may so clearly remember.

Beyond the physical elements of the building is the way in which residents are engaged each day, through the Generations Program.  At Villa Bonita, the memory care residents enjoy the Generations Program that supports their physical, emotional and spiritual needs with dignity.

The Generations Program provides residents with an engaging lifestyle through compassionate care at the hands of highly trained staff. The resident-centered care focuses on the strengths of each person. Meaningful activities promote a sense of well being, provide enjoyment and maintain functioning levels. And the Generations dining experience nurtures the mind, body and soul with freshly prepared menus offer many choices at each meal.  Residents are seated with dining partners to promote social interaction and meaningful connections.

There are designated program blocks during the day providing:
• Daily life skills opportunities to maintain resident functioning levels.
• An atmosphere of positive family involvement.
• Dedication to promoting the physical, spiritual, and social well being of each
resident through exploring the resident’s life history, and individualizing their
personalized activity programming.
• Regularly scheduled opportunity awbjp for out-of-doors activities and bus outings.
• Routine health monitoring and a complete wellness focus.
• Family support and increased communication.
For those residents outside the Memory Care area, the newly remodeled Villa Bonita offers a new look. The large lobby offers a welcoming area for residents and visitors to meet and converse. It displays artwork that employs vintage photos purchased from the Bonita Historical Society. The décor celebrates the local lemon and citrus industry.
