June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- And the newly-crowned Celtic Manor Wales Open champion hopes he can be right in the thick of it after climbing to 10th place on the European Ryder Cup points list.

McDowell mastered the 2010 Ryder Cup course with his final round 63, claiming a three-shot victory over exciting Welsh prospect Rhys Davies, whose course record 62 included six birdies and two eagles

Luke Donald, meanwhile, followed his Madrid Masters triumph last weekend by finishing third, a further two strokes behind.

McDowell matched Davies' outward-nine score of 30, and given the potential of a dream Ryder Cup partnership with fellow Irishman Rory McIlroy, watching captain Colin Montgomerie must surely have ticked several boxes.
