Imagine Prep At Surprise Offers Broadcasting Summer Camps

Imagine Prep at Surprise announces openings for KPRP Boot Camp and Screenwriting Boot Camp. Both programs offer students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to learn more about the broadcasting industry. Camps run June 28-July 2nd.

June 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Surprise, Arizona—Imagine Prep at Surprise announces there are still openings for KPRP Boot Camp and Screenwriting Boot Camp.  Both programs offer students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to learn more about the broadcasting industry as taught by former sports broadcaster for Fox Sports Arizona and Imagine Prep teacher, Lacee Collins.

During the 5 day intensive KPRP Boot Camp participants will learn the fundamentals of producing and hosting a radio show on KPRP, Imagine Prep's Internet based radio station, a member of the KidStar Network.  Every participant will have plenty of on air exposure and will learn how to operate our radio broadcasting equipment.  Students who already have radio experience opportunity to advance their skills on the radio, through writing, interview skills and even music research.
Interviews  or  live broadcast opportunities conducted by KPRP in the past year include:

•   Biggest Losers Contestants  (Interview)
•   Phoenix Mercury Game (color commentary, assists play by play announce by filling time when play is not in progress)
•   Diamondbacks, Manager AJ HInch  and Miguel Montero  (Interview)
•   Arizona  Secretary of State Ken Bennett (Interview)
•   New Moon (live broadcast and interview stars)

Imagine Prep will also be offering a 5 day intensive Screenwriting Boot Camp during which participants will learn the fundamentals of screenwriting.  Participants will collaborae with other students to write, shoot, and edit a short film while learning  how to write like a professional.  Participants will be introduced to what it takes to see their ideas on the big screen.

“Imagine Prep students really enjoyed the opportunities they had to work with our broadcasting equipment this year,” explained Lacee Collins, Imagine Prep Media teacher. “I thought it would be a good idea to offer our students the opportunity to continue to develop their skills over the summer and provide area students who do not attend Imagine Prep the chance to experience our broadcasting equipment.”

Both camps will run June 28-July 2nd.  KPRP Boot Camp will be from 9a-12p and Screenwriting Boot Camp will run from 1-4p.  The cost for each camp is $50 or $90 for both camps.  To register or for more information contact, Imagine Prep at Surprise 623.344.1770 between 9am –3pm, Monday-Friday or email lacee.collins@imagineschools.com.
